"Pop Life"
Chapter 43
"That was nice of your mom to take the kids back home for us," Britney says as she joined Justin out on their covered terrace of their condo in Miami.
He stretched out and nodded. "She just wanted to spoil her grandchildren more…without us there to yell at her."
She plopped down on the lounge chair next to him and shrugged.
"So, what do you want to do? This is one of those times when we can do those things we say we'll do when we have the time."
He reached out and started to rub his hand up and down her back.
"I don't want to do anything. Can't we just do that?"
She looked over at him and smiled when she saw that his eyes were closed.
"Sure we can."
She leaned back and rested her head against his shoulder. After five minutes of silence she sprang up.
"Okay what now."
She heard him chuckle behind her and felt his hand grab her arm and pull her back down to lie next to him.
"Nothing…just relax," he said nuzzling her neck.
Britney moaned. "I'm hungry."
"We'll order a pizza."
"Okay…I'll get the phone."
He keeps a hold of her arm.
"I have my cell right here."
He pulls out his cell phone and dials the only pizza place in Miami that he knows the number of.
"How do you remember that?"
He shrugs.
"Yes, I'd like to order a large pizza with everything…"
"No onions," Britney whispers.
"Okay, everything but onions…"
"Oh and no peppers, they make me burp…"
"And no peppers…" he says raising his eyebrows at her.
"Should we get sausage?" she asks.
"And no sausage. Yes, that's right. Nope, that should be it. Yes, that's my address…thank you."
He set the phone down and wrapped Britney in his arms again.
"So, what else did Adriana tell you about her date?" he asked.
"Not much else. She sounded like she had a really good time. I think she needed to get away from the hectic schedule and feel like a normal teenager," she said looking up at him.
He nodded. "We used to do that when we could."
"That's what kept me sane most of the time."
"So did he kiss her?"
"Justin," she said in a warning tone.
"What? It's an honest question."
"Yes he kissed her."
Justin sighed. "I knew it. She's gone, our baby is gone."
Britney moved her head so that her mouth was close to his face. "Sweetie there's nothing we can do about it. Besides she'll always be our baby, no matter what." She kissed his chin.
"You're right but it's still a big step. We've given her the birds and the bees lecture right?"
Britney threw her head back and laughed. "Oh God Justin. If we haven't then she's learned it from somewhere else by now. Don't worry…she's got our morals."
Justin opened his eyes and looked into his wife's.
"We used to have morals too…those went out the window."
She slapped his arm. "Not when I was sixteen…or even seventeen for that matter. You are being funny, right? I mean you're not seriously worried about this?"
He started to run his fingers through her hair, watching the strands fall as he did.
"No, I'm not up late at night worrying about it, but I am mildly concerned about her safety…of her and her heart."
"She'll have to learn on her own. There's nothing we can do to prepare her for relationships…except guide her by our own and I think we're doing a pretty good job."
When the doorbell rang they both got up. Justin went to answer the door and Britney went to the fridge to get out some lemonade for them to drink.
He started to set the pizza down on the counter but Britney stopped him. "Let's eat out on the terrace."
"It looks like rain."
"It's covered…we won't get wet."
He shrugged and picked up a handful of napkins and followed her outside.
"See, isn't this nice?"
He took a bite of pizza and nodded. "There's something romantic about the rain."
She laughed. "Even more so when you don't say that with your mouth full," she said wiping some sauce from the corner of his mouth.
He swallowed and leaned over to quickly kiss her.
"You love me anyway."
"No matter what," she smiled at him.
They finished eating their pizza when Justin's cell phone rang. As he answered it, Britney took the pizza box and the trash inside and threw it away. She went back out and got the glasses of lemonade and replaced them with two glasses of wine. By the time she went back outside with the glasses, he was off the phone.
"Who was that?" she asked, handing him a glass.
"That was JC."
She sat down next to him again, leaned back and watched the rain.
"Business?"
"Mmhmm," he said taking a sip of wine.
"About the album?"
He looked down at the top of her head. "Yes."
"You guys going to write together?" she asked, snuggling in closer.
"That's what we were talking about. Trying to figure out our schedules."
"I'm so happy for him and Kristen. She was really afraid she wasn't going to be able to have another baby," she said softly. She raised her head and looked into his eyes. "And it's not like she's our age so she shouldn't have that added risk."
He leaned over and kissed her forehead. "We're not ancient."
"I know, but she's a couple years younger…it will help."
"Brit?"
She looked into his eyes.
"What are you doing?"
She started to play with the collar of his shirt and shrugged. "I don't know."
He pulled her closer to him again and they lay like that, listening to the rain.
Just as the wine was taking it's toll and making her sleepy, she felt Justin's hand wandering down her back. He stopped at the hem of her shirt and gently maneuvered his hands underneath it, lightly touching her stomach. She started to squirm a little.
"Does that tickle?" he asked in a husky tone.
"A little," she giggled.
Her hands moved to his neck and she turned her head so that she was facing him. She inched her way up so that her mouth could reach his. She tilted his head and kissed him. Their tongues instantly met. Justin's hands were now on her bare back, unfastening her bra. He had it undone before she even realized it.
"You're good at that," she giggled into his mouth.
"I've had practice," he mumbled.
Just as he was about to raise her shirt she stopped him by grabbing his hands.
"Let's take this inside. We've had too many unwanted pictures taken on this balcony."
He quickly stood up and swooped her up into his arms in one movement.
"Good idea," he said kissing her and walking back inside the condo.
He carried her to their bedroom and set her down, taking her shirt off as he lowered her to the ground.
"I want to hear the rain," she said as she unbuttoned his shirt.
He walked over to the double doors that led onto their private terrace and opened them.
"How's that?"
She was now lying on the bed, completely naked.
"Perfect," she said, raising her arms for him to come to her.
He looked down at the floor where her discarded clothes were and chuckled.
"You have too many clothes on," she said.
He walked over to the side of the bed she was lying on and stood over her.
"Maybe you need to do something about that."
She reached over and started unbuttoning his shorts. She stood up on her knees, pushed off his unbuttoned shirt and then concentrated on unbuttoning and unzipping his shorts as he leaned down and started kissing her bare shoulder. When his shorts were completely unbuttoned and unzipped he let them fall to the ground and stepped out of them. She noticed that he was wearing boxers.
"Boxers?" she asked as ran her finger around the elastic and slowly pulled them down as far as she could reach.
As he removed them the rest of the way he said, "I don't want to hinder the chances."
She laid back on the bed again and this time he followed her.
"Really?" Her eyes were getting misty.
He nodded and gently kissed her. "I know we said we'd just let nature take its course but I figured that I would at least help a little by wearing boxers."
She smiled and pulled him to her for a deeper kiss.
"I love you," she whispered.
Britney rested in her husband's arms and listened to the rain. It had been a perfect evening. She was going to have to buy her mother-in-law a bottle of her favorite perfume for taking Cody and Ashleigh back to Orlando. She giggled at the thought. The noise made Justin stir so she gently massaged his shoulder and kissed his chest.
She thought about their many conversations about trying to get pregnant. Justin was right…as soon as they saw Jamie Lynn's baby they both knew what they wanted. Hearing about JC and Kristen just sort of sealed the deal. They decided that Britney would stop taking birth control and that they would continue their love life the way it was and not stressing about if it was the right time of the month or if they were making love in the best position to get pregnant.
She sighed. She and Justin had their ups and downs in their relationship but she didn't think she could ever be any happier. She thought about her family. They would be shocked if she announced that she was pregnant. Especially her children. Ashleigh would just think it's cool but Cody would probably be embarrassed. Adriana might be a little embarrassed but deep down she'd be ecstatic just like she was when her brother and sister were born.
"What are you smiling about?"
She looked into Justin's sleepy eyes. "I was just thinking about how the children would react when we tell them that we're going to have another baby."
His eyes got big for a second and then he chuckled. "They'd be like mommm, dadddd, how could you do this to us? What will people say?"
She laughed at the whiny tone he was using.
"They won't be that bad. Our moms will be just as tickled with this one that they were with the other three."
Justin nodded. "Yep, another baby for them to cuddle and hold…and then give back to us when they're tired."
She laughed again. "Stop, you're being so mean."
"I'm kidding."
"You know I was thinking…if we get pregnant right away this would be the second child we have around the same time JC and Kristen do. People will begin to talk," she laughed.
He got an evil grin on his face. "Any publicity is good publicity," he said turning her over so that he was draped across her. "Let's work on giving them something to talk about." He started to attack her neck.
"They'll wonder what goes on…oh my," she said as his hands started exploring her body. "Anyway, they'll start wondering what goes on at our backyard bar-b-cues with all the guys and…" she stopped to moan when his tongue started working wonders on her breasts. "And…what was I saying?" Her fingers were gripping at the curls on the back of his head.
"I have no idea," he mumbled.
She pulled his mouth to hers and kissed him passionately. He nudged her legs open wider and moved his body in between them. She raised her hips as she met his thrust. Both moaned into each other's mouths.
Britney could hear the rain pick up outside as she and Justin continued to move with each other. Just as they reached their peak the wind blew the doors open a little wider and the curtains blew wildly in the wind. She closed her eyes as she tried to get her breathing back to normal. She felt Justin kiss her forehead.
"I should really go close those doors I guess. I think there's a storm coming," Justin mumbled against her neck. He was still lying on top of her.
"Mmmhmmm." Her fingers were lightly tracing his back.
The next morning…
"Hi mama."
"Hi Adriana. I just wanted to check how the tour was going."
I sat back and kicked my legs up on the seat across from me on the bus.
"It's great. I'm having a lot of fun. The crowds are crazy. It's so funny because they always seem to start out slow. They kind of warm up with each act. Mama…I'm so excited."
Britney sat up higher in bed and smiled. "What about?"
"I was third act on stage and they decided to move me back a few acts because of the crowd reaction."
"Really? Wow that is great. That means something, you know?"
"I know. They're really liking my music and my performance. I talked to Uncle Lance about it last night. He thinks this is a big deal."
"Yep. How's Brad?"
She looks down at Justin, whose head is lying on her lap. His one eye popped open when he heard her mention Brad's name so she ran her fingers through his curls.
"He's good. He bought me Gerber Daisies. They're so pretty. I'm looking at them right now."
"I love those. I'm sure they're beautiful."
Justin's eyebrow raised in question so Britney patted his cheek.
"So where are you? I thought you were going to be in Orlando today."
"Your grandma was nice enough to take your brother and sister back to Orlando and let your daddy and I spend some time together in Miami."
"Oh that was nice. Did you guys get to go to that favorite restaurant you love? The one that's on the beach?"
"No…it rained."
"Oh, what a bummer."
Britney smiled. "Yeah really."
